5 Tips On How to Be More Outgoing

There are so many instances when it’s easy to feel intimidated by meeting new people or when it’s difficult to hold a conversation. We've all felt this at one time or another no matter how confident you may think you are! Each person is different in how they meet new people, interact with others, and feel in group settings. We hope these tips can help you grow, become more outgoing, and help you become more comfortable in every social situation. Check out our top 5 tips below!

  1. Put Yourself Out There

The first step to becoming more outgoing is putting yourself out there and meeting new people! Step out of your comfort zone and initiate a conversation, or at least allow yourself to be introduced to new faces. Say a simple “hi” to familiar and friendly faces and spark a conversation with people you don’t know that well.

  1. Work On Your Conversation Skills

Another key step to becoming more outgoing is mastering your ability to speak with others. Be sure to ask open-ended questions, or try to find a common interest to discuss. Try to find out what makes the person you’re speaking to excited and continue to play off of that topic. It’s an easy way to keep a conversation going, as well as shift the focus onto the other person so that you can sit back and listen!

  1. Use Open Body Language

Be sure to show that you’re actively listening through your body language! Maintain eye contact throughout the conversation, straighten your back, keep your shoulders open, and smile :) Try to show that you’re comfortable and confident, rather than hiding behind yourself.

  1. Boost Your Confidence

It’s important to show that you’re confident in yourself and ready to get to know people. Make sure you check out our blog on 7 Tips to Boost Your Confidence for some more tips!

  1. Practice Makes Perfect

Becoming outgoing is not going to happen overnight! Be sure to practice speaking with people you know, strengthening those relationships, as well as speaking with people you may not know. You’ll only be able to learn and improve if you practice!

All in all, if you master speaking to people, show confidence, and practice, you’ll be able to become more outgoing over time! I hope these tips help you to build and strengthen many relationships!
