This month's featured #bloomgirl is Jessica Santander; Founder of Project Moment Designs! Project Moment Designs is a hand-made jewelry line based out of Tampa, FL designed with a robust mission to empower dreams. PMD was founded in 2018. Tell us a little about yourself!

My name is Jessica and I’m originally from Rochester, NY, but moved to Delaware at 7 years of age and graduated with a degree in International Business and Marketing from the University of Delaware (Go Blue Hens!). I moved to Tampa, FL to pursue my Master’s Degree in Marketing and have fallen in love with the warm, sub-tropical weather.

My enthusiasm and fascination with fashion sprung at a young age as I have always admired my mom’s fun, vibrant sense of style. I embrace living with an over-flowing glass mentality and aim to bring a smile to anyone I meet. In addition to sharing my optimistic energy with all, I absolutely love learning about different cultures and languages- Spanish and French are on my bucket list!

With family roots from Colombia and Brazil, I’ve always had the aspiration to bring such warm, energetic cultures together in some form and share with the universe, and with Project Moment Designs, I envision bringing forth bits of pieces of such cultures into each detail of our brand.

Who or what is your biggest inspiration?  

My support system of my family has been a big source of motivation and inspiration throughout my entire life. Yet, my #1 rock, foundation, and star I have always looked up and continue to do so is my mom. I’m blessed to have such a close bond with my mother as every moment spent with her is always one that teaches me invaluable life lessons.

My mother’s story is a major inspiration and guiding light in my life as she left her home country, Brazil, at a young age to pursue opportunities that would help her provide for her family and ensure I would be able to chase my dreams. From her unconditional love and support, I find it so important and meaningful to live out a humble, generous heart. I can only dream of evolving into such a strong, fierce woman as my mom is and helping others to chase their goals too.

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced, personally or professionally? How have you overcome it?

I see any obstacle that life places before us as a test for us to grow and become an even better version of ourselves. It was not too long ago that I was experiencing a rather challenging period in my life that impacted my mindset. Upon graduating with my Master’s degree, I received many closed doors seeking a full-time job. Such a series of rejections definitely took a toll on the confidence level, but I’ve always believed that there’s a meaning/ reason to all that happens. I must say that sticking to that “ yes, I can, and deserve it” mindset definitely brought that light into each day and helped me stay focused on growing and learning as much as I can, both within my professional career with Digital Marketing and personal fascination with fashion and story-telling. The two different, yet so similar paths, came together in the most unexpected time of my life. Hence, explains why I choose to remain grateful from such a challenging time as it revealed a new door with Project Moment Designs. The ability to share such optimistic energy and hear other stories via my brand is truly a blessing and a miracle to live.

If you could talk to yourself 5 years ago, what advice would you give yourself? 

Believe, believe more, and believe even more! The mentality of choosing to believe and love yourself with all that you aspire has been an incredible source of power to change my life from what if’s to let’s do more of this! Any negative thought or split second of self-doubt shouldn’t and don’t deserve to pass by in anyone’s mind! No matter what, keep going and keep believing that you have all you ever need now to open that new door that you’ve always dreamed about!

What are some key books/learning experiences that helped shape you/your company?

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins. This book is filled with limitless ways of transforming your current situation into a remarkable new journey! I found it mind-blowing just how much power we truly have to change our mindset, confidence, and overall life in just 5 seconds! There’s not a minute that goes by that I don't reflect on ways to keep improving my personal life and company with this powerful countdown! 5,4,3,2,1 and you’re on your way to meeting new influential mentors and becoming the best version of yourself! I, also, recently started This Is Marketing by Seth Godin as Mr. Godin is quite a king in the marketing world! Thus far, this book has been an invaluable resource helping bring out the work I’m passionate about to others and fostering long-lasting connections!

What are your favorite bloom products, and why?

I’m literally obsessed with every single bloom product! I can’t get enough of this brand and I find a reason to have all their products for anything! Yet, the 6 in 1 Ultimate Planner, Calendar, and Notebook has been key to my company by laying out the stepping stones needed to be taken for the New Year! This planner is the perfect mash-up of a calendar and notebook broken down by weekly and daily sections that make planning out priorities oh-so easier! Plus, the fact that it’s filled with the most motivational quotes makes it even merrier! I feel so much more prepped and ready to bring on this new journey!
