Featured #bloomgirl: Adriana Carrig, Founder and CEO of the Little Words Project!

This month's featured #bloomgirl is Adriana Carrig, founder of the Little Words Project! Adriana first got her idea for her business as a Sophomore in college, and it has only grown from there. We are so inspired by Adriana's passion to create a culture of kindness among women and her #girlboss attitude!
Tell us a little about yourself!
My name is Adriana Carrig and I am the Founder and CEO of Little Words Project. I went to The College of NJ, and married my college sweetheart, Bill, in October of last year! This business is my heart and soul, and I look forward to the day that Little Words Project is the staple accessory of kindness for girls across the globe. We’re getting there!

Who or what is your biggest inspiration?

My biggest inspiration is definitely my mom! It sounds cliché, I know, but her story is remarkable. My mom is a Mexican woman who came to the United States, by herself, knowing zero English, and now is running my family’s multi-million-dollar neurology facility. She has taught me everything about being a strong independent woman, while also giving me the foundation of love and support through my personal journey dealing with negativity from girls throughout my entire life.

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced, personally or professionally? How have you overcome it?

My biggest challenge in life has been the constant debate of “am I doing the right thing, did I make the right decision, will my company really make a difference in Girl World?” It’s something I deal with often as I feel it can be so easy to doubt yourself, especially when you started your own movement! So I would say, the battle within myself is something I find to be a challenge, and I always work to overcome it every single day! I tell myself YOU GOT THIS about 100 times a day!

If you could talk to yourself 5 years ago, what advice would you give yourself?

I first started Little Words Project 5 years ago. I was in my parent’s basement, and I literally chose to start the business instead of going to law school. Talk about taking a major risk! If I could tell myself something when I first started I would say, don’t worry about anyone, any opinion, any thought, just keep GOING. I remember being so worried that I was doing something no one else was doing that it was actually wrong because of that! When really, I was taking the road less traveled and it was awesome! Confidence is something that has grown for me over time, and now I can truly say that believing you can do something is pretty much the entire battle.

What are some key books/learning experiences that helped shape you/your company?

I love the book “Tribes” by Seth Godin. It has helped me so much through my journey of being a business owner. It’s basically all about making sure you have the right team in place for your business because surprisingly having the perfect team is often times more important than anything else! I was always the type of person who liked to manage everything myself in the beginning, but as our company continues to grow, I have finally accepted that I cannot do all of this alone. That’s a word of advice I have in general about business owning, put the right people in the right seats on the bus, and believe in your people!

What are your favorite bloom products, and why?

I love the bloom Planning Pads! I always talk about lists I want to make, and I often get a little busy doing a million things and forget to write things down. Having a to-do list right there in front of me with the date, and tasks in a row is exactly what I need to keep myself in check! I also LOVE the Color Blocking Marble Daily Planner that I am holding below!
