DIY Graduation Cap!

It’s officially May which means the dreaded g-word (graduation) is upon me and all of my fellow classmates at the University of Delaware!

May has been a special time for me and I have been full of mixed emotions. Happiness because I know that my future holds so many possibilities. Sadness because I know I have to say goodbye to the place I've called home for the past four years. But most importantly, it is the feeling of the unknown. Where will I be in a few months? Where are all of my friends going to be? What am I going to remember most about my four years of college?

As graduation day approaches there a few things that need to get done. First, the outfit, second, the pictures, and third, the graduation cap. Everyone has the same struggle when it comes to decorating their plain graduation cap. We all want to stand out but how? I asked myself a few questions to narrow down what I wanted on mine.

What are some of the places you went during college?

I studied abroad twice while I attended UD. My sophomore year I went to Siena, Italy and studied the Italian language. My senior year I traveled to Athens, Greece where I studied biblical literature. This was a HUGE part of my college experience and definitely something I wanted to include on my cap!

What programs did you participate in/what is your major?

I participated in a program that UD has with The Fashion Institute of Technology.  This allowed me to spend my entire junior year at FIT studying fashion business management.  Upon my graduation this May, I will be receiving a Bachelor's of Science from UD and an Associates degree from FIT. This is a major accomplishment for me that I wanted to highlight!

What were you involved in on campus?

I joined many clubs while I was a student here but the one that I was most involved in was my sorority.  I am a proud sister of Sigma Kappa!  

Where will you be and what will you be doing after graduation?

If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me this, I could easily pay back my student loans. ;) After graduation I will be working for PVH, Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation, in Manhattan. I am so excited!
