3 Creative Ways To Use Pictures in Your Planner
Hi bloom, Kim from @krodesgins here with some ideas on how you can personalize your planner to help you stick to your plans and remember your best moments.
I’ve always believed that planners don’t have to be just functional, they can also be fun, creative, and deeply personal. One of the best ways I bring my planner to life is by using photos in three distinct and meaningful ways. Whether you're a memory keeper at heart or someone who just wants to stay on top of life’s chaos, adding pictures can truly transform how you plan and reflect.
1. Pictures as a Planning Tool
This might sound a little out-of-the-box, but I actually use pictures to prompt me to take action. For example, if I take a photo of a plant, I’ll pop it into my planner as a visual reminder to make sure my plants get watered. A picture of my tennis gear might signal that it's time to restring my racquet or have practice. These aren’t decorative, they’re functional. Visual cues spark action and help hold me accountable more than a simple checkbox ever could.
Think of them like mini to-do list cheerleaders reminding you visually of the goals you’ve set.
2. Capturing Moments as a Memory Keeper
Let’s be honest, life is moving fast. Sometimes I flip back through my planner and can’t even remember what I did two weeks ago, let alone how I felt about it. That’s where photos come in. I love tucking in a snapshot from a lunch date, a family weekend, or even just a quiet journaling moment. These images bring the pages to life and turn my planner into a living scrapbook.
I don’t do elaborate layouts every time, I just print a few mini pics on sticker paper and place them right into my weekly or daily spread. It adds so much heart to the page.
3. Photo Tags & Pocket Storage for Overflow Days
Some weeks are packed. Between tennis matches, errands, appointments, and family life, there just isn't enough room to squeeze in all the little photo memories I want to hold onto. That’s when I pull out my favorite hack: creating photo tags and sliding them into a pocket I’ve added to that week’s layout.
I’ll either use a shipping tag, a cardstock scrap, or something from the potential junk pile, pop a photo on the front, add some Bloom Stickers and jot a few lines on the back. Then it tucks right into a pocket made from a paper I made from printing out a Bloom Desktop Wallpaper File onto vellum.
This trick gives me flexibility and adds a layer of interactivity to my planner that I love without sacrificing space on those busy weeks.
Final Thoughts
Whether you’re a minimalist planner or a full-on memory keeper, photos can be a powerful, personal addition to your pages. They ground your to-do’s in real life, preserve moments that matter, and help tell your story in a way that words sometimes can’t.
