Featured #bloomgirl: Angela Cruz; Health and Fitness Coach!

This month's featured #bloomgirl is Angela Cruz! Angela is a long time #bloomgirl and Delaware native just like us! We are so inspired by Angela's passion, drive, heart for others, and motivation to continually bloom into the best version of herself! Follow her on Instagram.

Tell us a bit about yourself!

I am a Delaware native, with a love for life and passion for inspiring others to achieve their dreams, making this world a happier, healthier place. I started my fitness and wellness business in 2015 with the mission to help other high achieving women regain their confidence and feel good in their bodies in only 20 minutes a day.

How did your fitness journey begin?

I was born and raised living a healthy lifestyle. My mother worked for a Chiropractor and my father was in the military, so routine adjustments (first one at only 3 days old), eating fresh, whole foods, cooking our meals, and staying physically active were part of everyday life. I always joke that I learned to cook before I was even walking. Being raised in this healthy environment inspired me to pursue a profession in the health and wellness field, where I began my career as a Massage Therapist. From there, I continued developing the skills to further my education and received my Personal Training Certification. I come from a long line of business owners and entrepreneurs in my family, it’s in my DNA. So as my passion for fitness, wellness and helping others achieve their goals grew, naturally having my own business was in the cards.

Who or what is your biggest inspiration?

My grandmother Georgina. She was from Puerto Rico and the greatest person I knew for her wisdom, unconditional love, support, and for always putting everyone’s needs ahead of her own. In 2008, she passed away at the age of 95. Her funeral was held on my birthday, but instead of mourning her passing I was honored to share my special day with a celebration of her life. That’s the best gift in itself and a bond we share. The next day, I was in a minor car accident, and I instantly felt her spirit present and protecting me from being seriously injured. I always have a true guardian Angel with me.

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced, personally or professionally? How did you overcome it?

In 2011, I was diagnosed with a chronic thyroid condition. I remember being angry, scared and confused about why this was happening to me. After a few days and with reality setting in, I came to realize this diagnosis wasn’t happening to me, but for me. I had a purpose, and this condition inspired me to see life with a fresh perspective. Taking that leap of faith to pursue my dreams and help others not only sustain a healthy lifestyle but their purpose as well.

If you could talk to yourself 5 years ago, what advice would you give yourself?

Don’t be afraid to make the first move and ask for what you want. It may not always turn out how you expected but it will always work out for your highest good. Trust the process.

What are some key books/learning experiences that helped shape you/your business?

My daily journaling routine. I write my goals out as positive affirmations every single morning before the day begins as it grounds me. This practice has enhanced all aspects of my life personally and professionally making my goals a reality in the present, normalizing the experience. It’s been 2.5 years now and I’ve recently started my 10th journal. Also, as a natural introvert, I continuously challenge myself every day to step out of my comfort zone one way or another. From reaching out to someone new making a genuine connection, attending networking events, driving a different route, or just eating a new food. It all counts.

What are your favorite bloom products, and why?

My go-to is my Vision Planner because having a written list of my tasks and goals holds me accountable and motivated in achieving them. There's power in pen to paper (hence my journaling routine), and when I write things down my creative juices get flowing and vision becomes stronger. Also, I love to wear my #bloomgirl hat as it’s fun, fashionable and makes a powerful statement!
