This months community spotlight is on Jhenelle Anglin! Jhenelle has been an active member in our bloom community throughout 2020 and we are so lucky to know her. She is sweet, smart, and full of heart! Read more about Jhenelle below.

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

Hello everyone! My name is Jhenelle and I am a 26-year-old MBA student, a spoonie/ chronic illness warrior, and a lupus advocate. Currently, I attend a handful of seminars and workshops about lupus to gain more information about the condition and to learn if there is any new research being done and if there are any new medications or possible cures. My goal for this year is to become more and affiliated with a lupus organization. I am also an introvert, a fur mom, and a devout believer in Jesus and kindness. My hobbies include planning, writing, taking my dog on walks, and reading.

What does being part of the bloom community mean to you?

Being a part of the bloom community to me is being supported and understood by other planner and sticker addicts. It is also a place for me to connect and build friendships with like-minded people. I have been an active member in the bloom community calls throughout 2020 and into 2021. Being a part of the bloom community calls is an avenue for me to help support others and to be supported. The community calls are a place for me to express myself and share my ideas and also learn from others. I have contributed to the community calls by offering my insights and ideas about new product ideas and designs. I have also contributed to activities which are geared towards giving back to the community. Being introverted on the community calls is a fun experience for me because it is another way for me to meet and connect with others while sharing my ideas and using my skills to contribute to activities. It also a platform for me to express myself in a comfortable environment.

What does being an introvert mean to you?

Being an introvert to me means taking the time to think before I speak. Being an introvert is a very positive trait. This personality trait has made me realize my strengths in organizing, planning and creativity and has shown me that I have a whole lot to contribute wherever I am and whichever activities I am involved in.

Tell us about your dog, Milo!

During my undergraduate studies, there was a student that was giving away his dog because he lived on campus and dogs were not allowed on the premises. I had been thinking about getting a dog for a while but I wasn’t sure where to get started. I spoke with him and told him that I was interested in getting the dog and went and met with him and fell in love. Since then he has been a part of my family.

Who or what is your biggest inspiration?

My biggest inspiration is my mother. She has always worked extremely hard for me and my siblings while offering kindness and assistance to everyone she meets.

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced? How have you overcome it?

The biggest challenge I have faced is having chronic illnesses (lupus and fibromyalgia). Since being diagnosed with my chronic illnesses, my health has been very unpredictable and I have faced some life-threatening situations. I have learned to listen to my body and practice mindfulness and self-care, and to give myself grace. Despite unfortunate circumstances, I have learnt a lot more about myself and I have found that I am a lot stronger than I believed.

If you could talk to yourself 5 years ago, what advice would you give yourself?

If I could talk to myself from 5 years ago, I would tell myself that it is okay to not be perfect and that you will make a lot of mistakes but you are still learning and growing so don’t be so hard on yourself.

What are some key books/learning experiences that helped shape you?

Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis and The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho have really helped me to learn more about myself and to not give up on the goals and dreams that I have for my future.

What are your favorite bloom products, and why?

My favorite bloom products are the Female Empowerment Sticker Pack, the Act of Kindness Cards, and my Wildflowers Daily Planner. My planner helps me to keep track of all my appointments and symptoms so that when I go to my doctor appointments, I can remember all the things I want to bring up because with brain fog, I don’t remember certain details. It also helps me to track my progress with my health, my exercise routines, water intake, diet, and self care routines. The Female Empowerment Sticker Pack helps to motivate and encourage me! I take my Kindness Cards around with me to spread some kindness in my community.
