6 Tips on How to Balance Your Busy Life

How many times have you thought, “There just aren’t enough hours in the day!”? Life is busy and it can be tough to keep up and do all the things you need to do while remembering to enjoy what’s in front of you. Our social media intern, Caroline, definitely knows what it’s like balancing a busy schedule. Caroline is a senior at the University of Delaware juggling school, work, her sorority and post-grad job applications, while still trying to have fun and keep up with her social life! She shares some tips on how she (tries) do it all.

1 - Plan Out Your Day and Write It All Down

The easiest way to get overwhelmed is when you have too much to do but don’t know how you’re going to get it all done. Write it down and plan out your hours for the day. I like to first map out all of my classes, appointments, and work schedule in my Work/Life Balance Pad. Then, I like to plan my “need to get done” things like, homework, assignments for work, and to-do’s! I also LOVE my "Planners Gonna Plan" Daily Planner, this is smaller than my Work/Life Balance Pad so it's easy to carry around with me all day long!

2 - Plan your Meals and Snack Breaks

When you’re super busy, sometimes it’s hard to find time to sit down and have something to eat. It’s so important to plan out your meals and have some healthy snacks on hand to keep your body and brain going! I know I always keep some yummy trail mix in my bag just in case of emergency.

3 - Choose Your Escape For the Day

One thing that I find helpful is picking one time during the day that I get to escape the real world. This can either be going to the gym, watching netflix, painting your nails, etc. Personally, I enjoy watching netflix while I’m on the treadmill at the gym. I get a sweat going while also watching Gossip Girl pretending I am SVW.

4 - Understand That You Deserve a Night Out or a Good Night of Sleep

Grab dinner with the girls, watch your favorite movie with a huge pie of pizza, or just get in bed early with a cup of tea & a fuzzy sweatshirt. There’s always tomorrow to stress, but sometimes you just need some YOU time!

5 - Know When You’re Taking On Too Much

It’s easy to keep saying “yes” to people and overcommit yourself. Saying “no” isn’t rude and it doesn’t mean that you don’t care; it just means that you don’t have enough time to give it the energy and work it deserves.

6 - Focus on What Makes You Happy and Do Those Things

The best way to stay motivated and get things done is by looking forward to something every day! What do you like doing? Who do you like chatting with? Make time for those things everyday to keep you going! Stay positive and focus on one thing at a time. Personally I choose a time once a week to Facetime my family but more importantly, my dog:

We hope you enjoyed these tips! We would LOVE to hear your tips for work life balance and how you stay organized through it all.

xoxo,

Caroline
